changes in its appearance.

May 31st - Change of Webmaster
Mark Wheeler of the Clophill Club has kindly agreed to take on the running of the BCAA website with immediate effect.
I am grateful to him for agreeing to take the task from me and I take this chance to say thanks to all those who have provided material for the site since its inception. It has been a great pleasure to do the job, not least because of the range of very positive comments that I have received about the usefulness of the site.
Mark will alter the contact details in due course and you should then use those new details to post information intended to go onto the site.
My best wishes to you all.
Chris Carroll
April 1st - EAF Letter
Craig Wickham passed on a copy of this EAF
Letter and I have reproduced it because I think it will be of direct
interest to several archers in the County.
Feb 25th - Do you fancy a job as a film extra?
I heard today from a casting company that is looking for hairy Caucasian men with archery skills to play a part in a new film. If you are interested, have a look at the details here
February 23rd - Hosting changes.
The change from Lycos to a new domain name host has been safely achieved and without any interruption of service as far as we are aware.
The original Lycos site has closed, but it was carrying a warning of closure for some considerable time and we hope that everyone will have moved away from it in good time.
Here is yet another reminder that the current site address is www.archerybeds.com
Best wishes
February 16th - Hosting changes.
Our domain name www.archerybeds.com has for several years been secured through Lycos. Lycos has decided to get out of the web hosting business so we are in the process of changing to another company. It should make no difference to the use of the site providing that you are linked to www.archerybeds.com
I expect the old Lycos site to disappear totally, but in the last couple of days I have had news that a new group is trying to ensure that it survives. If you want to be certain of access to the BCAA site after the change, make sure that your link is to www.archerybeds.com
I apologise if any problems are caused for you. You will still be able to make contact to let me know what is happening on jccarroll@screaming.net
December 9th - Emeritus status for Sue Harper
Archers in the County will be delighted to learn that Sue Harper was recently granted the status of County Coach Emeritus. Sue became the County Coaching Officer at a time when coaching in the County was at a low ebb and when relationships between the coaching group and archers in the County needed significant work. She put every effort into transforming the situation and brought together coaches and archers in the County to achieve huge improvements. It's good to see that her dedication and hard work has been recognised and honoured.
September 21st - Archery equipment theft.
Ray Curtin wrote to me recently to tell of the theft of some archery equipment from a member of the St Neots Club - you can see the details here . Please look out for it.
September 4th - Terry is "The Master"
Superb news from Terry Course last night.
In the European Masters Games 2008, held in Malmo in southern Sweden, he won the Bronze Medal in his division. He gives the details in an email reproduced below.
" On the 26 August I flew to Malmo in southern Sweden to compete in the Archery competition of the above games. After a FITA 70 metre round, elimination round and medal matches shot over 4 days I managed to secure a bronze medal by coming 3rd in the finals. The field in my division consisted of 29 archers from 11 different countries".
3rd June - Congratulations to Mike Karaphiledes
Tony Brown sent me the following brief message yesterday. It is great news
for Mike and indicates a great deal of persistence and determination on his part
- well done indeed.
4 years ago at the Wrest Park Craft Fair in Silsoe Mike Karaphiledes turned up at the Clophill Archery Club “have-a-go” stall to try his luck at archery. Today, it has been confirmed he is going the Paralympics in Beijing.
Given that we have our own representative at the games you may care to note that the official website there has just gone live at the following address - http://en.beijing2008.cn/
21st May - New General Secretary for SCAS
A letter received today from Dr Steve Ellison brings the good news that Andy Woodger of the Laleham Club has been appointed General Secretary of Southern Counties Archery Society in succession to Brian Purnell. Andy will be well known to many of you as both a coach and a judge. He is taking on a big job and will need our support. I have already written to offer my congratulations.
