County postal championship WA900 Results

Greetings !
Please find attached the preliminary results for the County postal championship WA900. The scores will also be used, where possible, for an inter-county 3-way competition with Bucks and Northants. Suzi and Terry will take over for that part I hope.
Please check that I have correctly recorded your club’s archers’ scores. I may have the age group as “senior” when it may be “50+”.
For some reason we didn’t record “hits”, never mind.
What is pleasing is that 42 archers got involved. To those who took part, “thank you” and do now consider shooting for your County again when the requests go out.
Awards will be presented at the AGM in November.
Take care and enjoy the remainder of the outdoor season.
Best wishes
Mike

To All Bedfordshire County Archers.

To All Bedfordshire County Archers.

Following on from the very successful CAGT`s at Kestrels, Dunstable and Clophill the following is planned along with future inter county tournaments.

14th September . County Archery Get Together (CAGT) hosted by Pepperstock Archers.

Their field address. Church Rd, Luton, LU1 4BJ, parking on site . 10.15 for 10.30 start. Contact Bettina Schiefner.  mobile 07494 167570, Email Bets79@hotmail.com

Please let Bettina know you are attending.  All county archers are invited. These get togethers are for you, whether experienced or novice. We can all learn from each other.

The format will follow previous get togethers. An inspection of archery equipment as if you were attending a record status shoot. A 3 dozen round at 30m and shorter distances for those who feel uncomfortable at that distance

If there are any coaches who would like to attend please let us know, similarly any archers who feel they could help those needing a hand would be more than welcome to. You may even get a biscuit or two.

17/18th August. Postal County 3 way. This is to be part of the Beds County Outdoor Championships. Shot at your own club on either of those days. Details have been circulated along with the official score sheet outlining the WA900 round to be shot along with the additional junior distances.  The Beds team will be picked from submitted scores. We hope every club will take part.

24th November. Beds County Indoor Championships. First session Beds V Northants. Please let us know of your availability.

I think that will do for now. Unfortunately Suzi and Terry will not be there on the 14th Sept. Play nicely and be gentle with Bettina. Remember we all do this on a voluntary basis and hopefully can pass on our vast experience and knowledge to other county archers.

2024 Outdoor County Championships

Bedfordshire County Archery Association – 2024 Outdoor County Championships including the

3-Way Bedfordshire vs. Buckinghamshire vs. Northamptonshire Inter-County Postal Competition

At the BCAA Committee Meeting in July it was agreed that this year’s County Championships will be a postal WA 900 competition to be shot during the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August 2024. The shoot will also incorporate a 3-way inter-county postal competition.

As we have yet to finally organise a county equipment store at a shooting venue, this gives us the best opportunity to hold the County Championships this year.  A postal competition makes the event easily accessible to all archers in the County, and provides a round that is a little bit out of the ordinary and appealing to all age groups.

By shooting a postal competition, we have no need to book a field, and club archers can shoot at their own familiar ground. You have a choice of days when the round can be shot. The WA 900 round is 2½ dozen arrows shot at three distances making a total of 7½ dozen shot at the large 122-cm face, 10-zone scoring (90 arrows scoring a maximum of 900). We have thought about the distances involved and have come up with a suite of shorter rounds suitable for all age groups. We desperately need the help of junior archers, all bow types, and both genders.

Please use the attached score sheet.

2024 County Champs WA900 Score Sheet

It includes the distances that the juniors will be shooting. Please cross-score so that you do not record your own arrow values. There is a “J” column but as it’s a postal round there may not be a judge present to initial any arrow value changes. Either elect a club “judge” or get a fellow archer on your boss to initial any changes.

All scores (but not the actual score sheets) must be submitted to the County Chairman (chairman@archerybeds.com) by end of day on Friday 23rd August. Archers may shoot one round on the Saturday or Sunday, not BOTH days, and with only one bow style. Please list in the club’s results:

archer name, M/F, bow style, age group, round shot, score, 10s + Xs, and Xs.

Clubs which are unable to shoot outdoors are invited to request help from their neighbouring clubs.

The County Champions will be presented with medals at the BCAA AGM in November. Record claims for the postal round may be made in the normal way. The results will be used to create teams for the inter-county 3-way competition – so your score may be doubly important!

Best wishes and good luck.

Mike

Bedfordshire County Clout

The BCAA Committee are seeking your help.

Are you interested in shooting clouts, and would you be prepared to organise next year’s County Clout? Bedfordshire has a long record of running a clout championship meeting and hosting the SCAS Clout as part of the proceedings. 2024’s BCAA/SCAS Clout sadly had to be cancelled for a number of reasons, but we hope to resurrect the shoot for 2025.

Can you help?

If so, please contact Mike, the BCAA Chairman (chairman@archerybeds.com) or Lorraine, the BCAA Secretary (secretary@archerybeds.com).
